2019 Stéphane Ogier Viognier de Rosine

$26.99
2019 Stéphane Ogier Viognier de Rosine

We have a fantastic closeout from Ogier today. While we tend to focus on the Syrah side of Ogier production, he does make a few excellent white wines, and the Viognier de Rosine is a notable example. This is crafted from Viognier grown in plots near Ampuis, covering about 3 hectares with vines planted on Granite soils. Stéphane Ogier, a winemaker with deep roots in Côte-Rôtie, took over the family domaine in the late 1990s, modernizing and expanding its focus on terroir-specific wines. Known for minimal intervention, Ogier vinified this in stainless steel with partial aging in neutral oak, preserving varietal purity and aromatics while building texture. The 2019 was a warmer growing season, producing a ripe, expressive Viognier with balanced acidity and concentrated fruit. This wine exemplifies Ogier's dedication to all of the varietals of the Northern Rhone and is a fantastic white wine buy at this closeout pricing.

Decanter 91 points! "Very opulent style, there's some enjoyable bitter orange on the finish, and a touch of green almond bitterness. Good freshness with good depth of fruit. Not long, but very good Rhône Viognier. (Drink between 2021-2023)"
