2021 Domaine Pavelot (Jean-Marc et Hugues) Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru La Dominode

$59.99
2021 Domaine Pavelot (Jean-Marc et Hugues) Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru La Dominode

Pavelot is the benchmark for Savigny, and we were able to get a small reload at our original low pricing. La Dominode is the Domaine's ultimate expression and has for many years been one of the best buys for Premier Cru Burgundy, not just from Savigny but throughout the Cote d'Or. The wines from Jean-Marc Pavelot are classic and vineyard-driven while showing a beautiful refinement from this slightly more rustic terroir. 2021 is a top vintage for this flagship Cuvee and is sourced from vines up to 80 years old. As a bar-setting wine in Savigny for decades, it is naturally Pavelot's best wine this vintage. We have low pricing on some of the only bottles available for this standout Cuvee in the US and at no upcharge over previous vintages. For fans of Pavelot or those looking for a great premier cru buy in this limited vintage, this is an excellent choice!

Neal Martin 92-94 pts! The 2021 Savigny-lès-Beaune La Dominode 1er Cru has another complex bouquet from Pavelot, predominantly red fruit infused with damp earth, iodine and pressed iris flower aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with firm but quite chiselled, almost chalky tannins, certainly very saline with a focused, peppery finish that leaves the mouth tingling for 60 seconds afterwards. Bon vin. (Drink between 2025 - 2040)

John Gilman 93 pts!  The 2021 Dominode chez Pavelot was like all the other premier crus in the cellar, other than the Gravains, as it was in fine form and showing beautifully. The wine’s aromatic constellation is again nicely black fruity, delivering scents of cassis, dark berries, espresso, woodsmoke, grilled venison, a complex base of dark soil tones, cedar and gentle Savigny spice tones in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and classy, with a fine core, lovely mineral drive and grip, ripe tannins and a long, focused and complex finish of lovely balance. First class Dominode in the making! (Drink between 2034 - 2085)

Burghound 92 pts!  This aromatically similar to the Gravains though the spice nuances are a bit more prominent. The sleek and rich yet attractively detailed flavors exude a lovely minerality while also coating the palate on the nicely complex and highly persistent finale where a touch of bitter pit fruit character also slowly emerges. La Dominode is justly known for its ability to age and this should only add to that legacy. (Drink starting 2031)
