John Gilman 95 pts! The 2021 Vaucrains chez Chevillon is another stunning young wine, with the inherent elegance of the vintage certainly making itself felt in this lovely bottle. The bouquet delivers a refined combination of red and black cherries, sweet dark berries, grilled meats, nutskin, raw cocoa, woodsmoke, a complex base of minerality and a perfectly measured foundation of new oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and rock solid at the core, with superb soil signature, fine-grained tannins, excellent balance and a long, complex and soil-driven finish of superb quality. Vaucrains can sometimes be a bit of a stormy adolescent at this point in its evolution, but the 2021 version from Domaine Chevillon is polished, refined and destined for greatness. (Drink between 2035 - 2100)
