2022 Au Pied du Mont Chauve Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chenevottes

$109.99
2022 Au Pied du Mont Chauve Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chenevottes

One of the best buys of the vintage for Chevenottes, Au Pied du Mont Chauve is an under-the-radar address owned by the Picard family that was founded in 2000. The family set out to highlight terroir-driven whites from biodynamically farmed holdings, with the 2022 Chenevottes coming from a small, southeast-facing parcel of limestone and clay soils situated just below the famed Montrachet slope. 2022 was a warm and dry season with well-timed August rains leading to concentrated, ripe fruit with vibrant acidity—ideal conditions for precise and terroir-focused Chardonnay. Fermentation was done with indigenous yeasts, and the wine was aged in French oak (around 20% new), preserving its mineral backbone while adding a subtle layer of complexity and texture. The resulting wine is refined and expressive, with notes of lemon oil, fresh pear, wet stone, and a saline lift on the finish. It's a serious white Burgundy that combines pedigree and refinement with excellent aging potential at pricing much lower than its peers!

James Suckling 93 pts! Attractive nose of hazelnut, peach, lemon curd and apple crumble. Creamy and peachy with medium to full body and excellent freshness. Long and bright. Drink now or hold.
