The wines from Ballot-Millot in the past few vintages have been very impressive, but the 2022s are exceptional and are becoming one of the hottest domaines in Burgundy right now with some very impressive wines. Led by Charles Ballot, who took over for his father in 2000, Charles is the 15th generation of this Meursault-based family to make wine, with 10 hectares of vineyards, mainly in some of the best locations of the village, which he began tending more sustainably since he started. Generations of experience have led to some of the best wines being made in Burgundy right now. The Bourgogne Blanc comes from a blend of parcels, with 70% from Meursault and 30% from Puligny, with a blend of domaine and high-quality purchased fruit. Fermentation is completed with natural yeasts in 20% new oak, which is a bit higher than usual but was possible due to the quality of fruit this vintage. An outstanding example of Bourgogne Blanc, this is so fresh and vibrant, with an excellent core of citrus fruit complimented by some impressive minerality at this level with surprising precision. There is a good balance between richness and acidity here. This has a fantastic texture thanks to a bit more oak this vintage and a bit of a floral perfume and dry extract on the palate as the wine finishes. One of the top Bourgogne Blancs this vintage, right now, we have the only bottles of '22 available and at a lower price than previous vintages. It's a top buy for the category and highly recommended.
