2022 Olivier Jouan Chambolle-Musigny Les Bussieres Vieilles Vignes

2022 Olivier Jouan Chambolle-Musigny Les Bussieres Vieilles Vignes

2022 Olivier Jouan Chambolle-Musigny Les Bussières Vieilles Vignes is a terrific example of why this tiny, old-school domaine remains one of Burgundy's hidden gems. Based in Morey-Saint-Denis, Olivier Jouan is a sixth-generation winegrower who began making wine in 1999 and still runs the domaine as an essentially one-man show, doing the work himself, practicing organic viticulture, and taking a minimalist approach in the cellar. Les Bussières is a unique Chambolle-Musigny lieu-dit on the Morey side of the village, located right next to the premier cru La Bussière, and Jouan’s parcel is planted with old vines approaching 50 years of age. The result is a village-level wine with impressive depth, perfume, and structure, drinking like the younger sibling to a proper premier cru. The 2022 vintage adds ripe, generous fruit and beautiful balance, bringing red cherry, raspberry, rose petal, spice, subtle earth, and mineral lift, all carried by Chambolle’s elegance and naturally silky texture. This is undoubtedly a fantastic value, offering old-vine, site-specific Burgundy from a serious grower at a great price. For Burgundy lovers looking for an excellent Chambolle without a huge price tag, this is the one!
