Clos des Lunes remains one of the great values for dry white Bordeaux, a fascinating project created by Olivier Bernard and the team behind Domaine de Chevalier with the goal of showing what the legendary terroirs of Sauternes can achieve without residual sugar. Lune d’Argent is the heart of the estate, and the 2023 is an excellent vintage, blending 70% Sémillon with 30% Sauvignon Blanc from parcels throughout Sauternes, Bommes, and Barsac. Everything is harvested by hand in successive passes for optimal ripeness, followed by gentle pressing and élevage on the fine lees, with a portion aged in French oak to add texture without overwhelming the fruit's purity. The Sémillon provides richness and depth, while Sauvignon Blanc brings freshness and precision, giving the 2023 beautiful notes of pear, nectarine, grapefruit, and citrus peel, alongside white flowers, subtle brioche, and crushed stone. There is excellent weight and texture through the middle, but bright acidity and a growing saline quality keep everything focused through the long finish. This is a remarkably complete dry Bordeaux Blanc that delivers far beyond its appellation and price, offering much of the precision and sophistication associated with considerably more expensive white Bordeaux.

Jeb Dunnuck 93 pts! The 2023 Clos Des Lunes Lune D'Argent Blanc offers rocking levels of stone fruits, orange zest, spice, and subtle brioche. It's clean, rich, and medium to full-bodied, with ample richness, a round, layered mouthfeel, and beautifully integrated acidity. Drink this over the coming decade or so. Drink 2026-2036.

Decanter ( Panos Kakaviatos ) 93 pts!  A textbook example of excellent dry white in 2023: you get the sumptuousness of ripe Sémillon with nectarine juiciness and the verve and citrus punch, in this case kiwi, from the Sauvignon Blanc. No malolactic fermentation to maintain acidity, given the summer heatwaves, and voilà. This wine also has some classy pear on the finish, but above all a juicy mid palate. (Drink between 2025 - 2033)
