Marguet Champagne Grand Cru Shaman Rose (2019)

$59.99
John Gilman 93 pts! I am hard-pressed to think of any contemporary grower in Champagne who makes better Rosé than Benoît Marguet. Certainly Grandes Marques that are famous for their own Rosé, such as Laurent-Perrier and Billecart-Salmon, cannot quite keep pace with the level of non-vintage Rosé beauties that Benoît has turned out from his cellars in Ambonnay in the last decade. His 2019 Shaman Rosé is another stunning wine, being composed of a blend of seventy-seven percent chardonnay and twenty-three percent pinot noir. The wine is non-dosé and was disgorged in September of 2022. The beautiful nose wafts from the glass in a constellation of tangerine, blood orange, passion fruit, chalky soil tones, wheat bread and a lovely topnote of citrus zest. On the palate the wine is deep, crisp and full-bodied, with fine soil signature, a lovely core of fruit, pinpoint bubbles, bright acids and superb length and grip on the seamlessly balanced finish. This is just outstanding non-vintage Rosé. (Drink between 2023 - 2050)
