N.V. Dosnon Champagne Cuvée Alliae (2016)

$109.99
N.V. Dosnon Champagne Cuvée Alliae (2016)
A follow up to our offer of the Miliesime Champanges from Dosnon, today we have another rare one, this time the Cuvee Alliae based on the 2016 vintage. As mentioned, David Dosnon (formerly titled Dosnon Lepage) is one of the most under-the-radar top producers in the Aube district of Champagne. A great winemaker who follows Selossian methods, this is the first time we have been able to offer the Cuvee Alliae. Like the miliesime, this is also very limited, with little made at the domaine. A Blend of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir from this is vinified and aged in oak for 10 months before spending 55 months on the lees. Zero dosage, David wants the purity of the fruit and terroir to shine through, which pairs very well with the optimally ripe fruit and extended time on the lees. Cuvee Alliae is a Champagne of Floral and mineral intensity with aromas of pears, white peaches, and candied citrus fruits, which amplifies the freshness here. The palate is silky, complex, and nuanced, with an intense yet elegant finish. Truly a class act and a rarity of Champagne, we have the only bottles of this one in the USA, and it is a highly recommended buy for the category.
