The wines from Michel Caillot are extremely rare here in the USA, and though the Domaine has been in operation for some time, they have remained rather under the radar. The Domaine was started by Michel Caillot's father in 1961, comprising 13 hectares of vines in some very nice vineyards. In the 80s, the Domaine went organic and stopped using chemicals in the vineyards, which is still upheld today and is a big part of the quality here. Caillot is an underrated producer that we've enjoyed in small quantities throughout the years, and the 2017 is a great example of the Folatieres. 2017 is a lovely vintage for White Burgundy and has proven to be an excellent source of white Burgundy, making for some captivating wines.
The 2017 Folatieres here is a very focused wine showing a bit of Grand Cru weight with good complexity, beautiful minerality, and bright acids. These ex-Domaine bottles are coming directly from the Caillot cellars and are in perfect condition. This is the best buy on the market right now for 2017 Folatieres and is a simply great buy for a White Burgundy of this caliber.
