One of the top premier crus from Jadot, the Clos de Ursules, is a favorite and is always a noteworthy bottle. Sourced from Domaine fruit, Clos de Urusulles is a revered walled section within the Premier Cru Vineyard Les Vignes Franches, at the southern end of Beaune close to Pommard. Jadot is the only owner of Clos des Ursules and is the only producer to make wine from this vineyard. 2020 is outstanding and is the best young Clos de Ursules that we have tasted in years, but it is also a wine that will prove to be exceptional with time in the cellar. 2020 rivals some of the best vintages of this wine and is a top buy for Premier cru red Burgundy. We have low pricing today on this outstanding effort due to arrive next month.
Decanter (Charles Curtis) 95 points! "The Domaine des Héritiers Jadot owns the iconic 2.15ha monopole of the Clos des Ursules. It faces east in stony soils and is found at mid-slope between Vignes Franches and Aigrots. This produces a wine that is always a bit richer, with lovely red cherry and cassis fruit, a mineral edge and hints of smoke and spice. The texture is structured and firm, but there is no astringency and it should open up marvellously well with time. A lovely wine. (Drink between 2025 - 2040)"
Wine Advocate (William Kelley) 92-94+ points! "The most reserved of these Beaune cuvées is the 2020 Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Ursules (Domaine des Héritiers Jadot), a medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated wine evocative of orange rind, red berries, plums, warm spices and peonies. Lively and structured, it will require and reward patience."
