2022 Domaine Bertrand Bachelet Chassagne-Montrachet

$69.99
2022 Domaine Bertrand Bachelet Chassagne-Montrachet

After quickly selling out, we were able to get a bit more of this fantastic White Burgundy deal. I have learned over the years that when you go to lunch or dinner in France, it's always good to ask the sommelier for a recommendation to see what they come up with. Happily, I did this when we got to La Superb in Beaune, and they offered me the 2022 Domaine Bertrand Bachelet Chassagne-Montrachet, which was my biggest white wine surprise of the trip. This is an absolutely stunning bottle of Chassagne that is drinking amazing right now. Bertrand took over for his father in 2011 and is the 4th generation winemaker of the estate. They work sustainably in the vineyard and use native yeasts and about 20% new oak for this cuvee. The aromas of this wine are beguiling with white flowers, stone fruits, apples, liquid minerals, and a touch of spice. The palate is perfectly balanced with lovely fruit, acidity, and exceptional length for a village wine. There are lovely notes of yellow fruit, saline, and tons of dry extract on the lingering finish. Once you have a glass, it will be hard not to drink the whole bottle because it is showing terrific right now. It's lovely juice and rare wine in the US, and we have the only bottles which come highly recommended.
