2022 Paul Pernot et ses Fils Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chalumeaux

$129.99
2022 Paul Pernot et ses Fils Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chalumeaux

We have another excellent 2022 from Paul Pernot, and this time it is Les Chalumeaux, which comes from the domaine's smallest Puligny holding, with vines planted in 1954 at the base of the 5.8 ha Les Chalumeaux climat on the northwest slope above the village near Blagny. Thin limestone and red-tinged clay over shallow bedrock give the wine a mineral, tensile style, amplified by Pernot's classical style: hand-harvested, immediate pressing, barrel fermentation, about 20–30% new oak, minimal bâtonnage, and relatively early bottling to preserve precision. The 2022 white Burgundy vintage is generous in fruit yet balanced with excellent acidity, creating a beautiful dynamic for enjoyment. One of the best buys this vintage from Pernot, we have low pricing here today on a limited amount.

Burghound 92 points! "A touch of petrol is present to the airy and cool aromas of pear essence and various floral wisps that include an interesting hint of gardenia. The plump, round and fleshy medium-bodied flavors possess a seductive texture thanks to the abundance of dry extract while exuding a subtle bead of minerality on the clean, dry and lingering finish. This is less mineral-driven than the Clos de la Garenne but it's slightly more concentrated and a bit more tightly wound as well."
