2023 Domaine Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles

$224.99
2023 Domaine Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles

We have a bit of the 203 Pucelles from Henri Boillot today, and it's another fantastic vintage of this wine. Les Pucelles is among the most esteemed Premier Crus in Puligny, sitting just below Bâtard-Montrachet and adjacent to Bienvenues, with Boillot owning a prime 0.63-hectare parcel here. Vines average over 45 years of age and are farmed lutte raisonnée. Winemaking follows Boillot's strict, low-intervention approach: direct pressing, wild yeast fermentations, and aging in 350L barrels (20–25% new oak) for 18 months without bâtonnage (lees stirring), emphasizing purity and site expression. The 2023 vintage featured a warm, dry growing season with excellent diurnal range (warm days and cool nights), allowing full phenolic ripeness while retaining acidity. As expected from Boillot's Pucelles, this vintage is striking in its precision and layered elegance—ripe citrus, white flowers, and a touch of hazelnut framed by a chalky, saline backbone. This is a benchmark wine with an aging potential of 10–15 years and one of the most compelling buys in Premier Cru Puligny today.

Jasper Morris MW (Inside Burgundy) 93-95 points! "Clear pale lemon. Immediate class on the nose, a pure white fruit with just the right degree of sunshine to make it satisfying. Electricity on the palate, energetic fresh limestone, some ripe citrus persisting behind. Henri tells me that Pucelles came in with both the highest sugar level and the highest acidity."
